How to automate the process of cleaning up your contact list
On this page, we will see how to clean up your contact list on systeme.io automatically.
What you will need:
- a systeme.io account
- a contact list
Go to your menu by clicking on your "Profile image", then on "Settings" (number 1 in the image), select "Emails" (number 2 in the image)
Go to the section "Automatic list cleaning" which is found further down in the email settings (number 3 in the image), you will find the following 2 options that you can use:
- Every week "Unsubscribe/Delete" all contacts who have not opened any email for 1 to 26 weeks and who have never purchased anything.
- Every week "Unsubscribe/Delete" all contacts who have not opened any email for 1 to 26 weeks and who have already purchased something.
To better understand how this works, we will provide you with examples.
An automatic process will be established to delete inactive contacts who have made no purchases for 8 weeks:
You need to check the first box "Every week "delete" all contacts who have not opened any email for "8" weeks and who have never purchased anything".
An automatic process will be established to unsubscribe inactive contacts who have made no purchases for 8 weeks:
Please check the box "Every week "unsubscribe" all contacts who have not opened any email for "8" weeks and who have never purchased anything".
It is important to note that by unsubscribing contacts, they are not removed from your list, but they can no longer receive emails from you.
We will proceed to establish an automated process for removing inactive contacts who have made a purchase 8 weeks ago:
You need to check the second box "Every week "delete" all contacts who have not opened any email for "8" weeks and who have already purchased something".
Note: the mention "have already purchased something" means that these contacts have previously been customers of yours.
Finally, we will automatically unsubscribe inactive contacts who have already made a purchase for 8 weeks:
Please check the second box "Every week "unsubscribe" all contacts who have not opened any email for "8" weeks and who have already purchased something".
By unsubscribing them, the contacts are not removed from your contact list; however, they will no longer be able to receive emails from you.
Important: if you wish to keep a record of the sales you have made for accounting purposes, for example, we advise you to unsubscribe your inactive contacts rather than delete them.
Finally, know that deleting or unsubscribing contacts who no longer open your emails is beneficial for the deliverability of your emails. Indeed, having an engaged list that regularly opens your emails will allow you to achieve better statistics and better email deliverability.
