How to create a tag
In this article, we will see how to create a tag on systeme.io.
Tags play an essential role in organizing your contacts. They allow you to easily classify them according to their origin or status (contact, customer, student, etc.) in order to manage your database better.
They are also essential for using the newsletters feature: without tags, you won't be able to segment your audience or send targeted newsletters to your mailing list.
For example, you can create a tag like "Client-course-1" and assign it automatically to people who bought your course. You can then use this tag to send them specific emails.
1. Creating a tag
To create a tag, navigate to the CRM tab and click on Tags (1).

Click on Create (2), enter a name for your tag in the Tag name field (3), then click Save (4).

2. Other ways to create tags
You can also create a new tag directly within automation rules. Simply enter the name of the tag you want to create and use in the automation rule, and it will be created automatically.
This saves you time and makes it easier to set up automations without having to manually create tags beforehand.

3. Understanding tag statistics
On the main Tags dashboard, you can view performance metrics for each of your tags. The dashboard displays:
a. Today & Yesterday: The number of contacts who received the tag during these timeframes.
b. Total: The total number of contacts who have ever been assigned this tag since its creation.
c. Removed: The number of contacts who had this tag removed from their profile.
d. Sales & Sales per contact: The revenue generated by the contacts carrying that specific tag.

Important clarification about the "Total" column:
The "Total" column does not represent the number of contacts that currently have the tag. Because it counts every single contact that has ever received the tag (even if it was later removed), this number will often be higher than your current active list of contacts with that tag.
Example: Let's look at the tag "Client-course-1". In the Tags dashboard, the statistics show:
- Total: 2
- Removed: 1

This means 2 contacts were given this tag at some point, but 1 contact later had it removed.
If you click on that tag to filter your contacts list, you will see that only 1 contact currently has the tag actively applied to their profile (Total - Removed = Currently active).

Note: The amounts displayed in the Sales and Sales per contact columns are calculated including taxes. This ensures your financial data is fully aligned and consistent with the revenue figures shown on your main contacts and transactions pages.
