How to compress a video with Handbrake

In this article, you will learn how to reduce the size of your videos so that they take up less space and can be easily accessed in a browser.

You will need:

  • Handbrake software (Download here)
  • a video to compress

First, go to Handbrake and click File: Open a single video file (1) to put your source (video), you can also drag and drop it.

Choose where you want to save your file by clicking on Browse. 

You must check the box Web optimized (3) to optimize your videos for the web. This allows you to save them in a format compatible with the web.

Click Start Encode (4) to start compressing your video.

If you want to keep the same dimensions of the video. Go to the Dimensions

tab select None for Anamorphic (5).

Once the compression is complete, you will find the compressed video in the destination you have selected. Click here to find out how to embed a video on your page.
