How to trigger automations after contacts click links in an email
In this article, we'll learn how to automate specific actions when contacts click links in your emails, enabling segmentation and targeted marketing.
What you'll need:
- A systeme.io account
- An email containing at least one link
Creating automation rules triggered by clicked links
Navigate to Automations >> Rules to create a new automation rule.
Select the Email link clicked trigger. This sets the automation to run when a contact clicks a link in your email.
Select the email containing the link(s) you want to apply this automation to.
Select the specific link that should trigger the rule.

Creating workflows triggered by clicked links:
Navigate to Automations >> Workflows to create a new workflow.
Choose the Email link clicked trigger, then select the email containing the link.
Add a Decision and select Email clicked.
Important notes:
- Currently, selecting a specific link for use in your workflows is not possible, unlike in the simple automation rules outlined earlier.
- This feature allows you to track and segment contacts based on the links they click, assign tags, and launch tailored campaigns or personalized promotions according to their preferences.
With this feature, email targeting and marketing become more customized and effective.
