How to connect your IONOS domain to systeme.io

On this page, you will learn how to add DNS records to IONOS to connect your main domain name. This will allow you to add your complete website (www.domain.com) to systeme.io to use it as a custom domain in your sales funnels and blogs, which can be useful for your branding.

What you will need:

a systeme.io account
a domain name purchased from IONOS

Important: Please follow the first step of this article before completing this one.

After adding the root domain in systeme.io, you need to see the DNS settings from your IONOS account

Note 1: Each domain added to systeme.io has its own CNAME records to integrate into the hosting site.

Example:

In this example, we will connect the domain www.sio-demo.com with systeme.io

First, hover over your profile picture, click "Settings", then go to "Custom Domains" and add your custom domain.

INSTRUCTIONS :

First CNAME :

Go to "DNS" of your domain name, then click on "Add a record".

Select the type "CNAME" from the different types available.

Add "www" in the "Hostname" field, then add "dsq5ytes5ap90.cloudfront.net." in the "Points to" field. Finally, click on "Save" to save the addition of your first CNAME.

Note: If a CNAME record with the name "www" exists, edit the target to "dsq5ytes5ap90.cloudfront.net."

Second CNAME:

Go to "DNS" of your domain name.
Click on "Add a record" >> Select the type "CNAME" >> add in the "Hostname" field everything that is before the domain name, which in our example is "_be50f0c6ab135efbaccc95c5129852f6" >> then add "_04afcedac82192a5587b6ea2c6045981.zfyfvmchrl.acm-validations.aws." in the "Points to" field. Finally, click on "Save" to save the addition of your second CNAME.

Once the two CNAMEs are correctly added to your host, you can check their functionality on the following site:

https://dnschecker.org

The indicators should all be green, like the example below. If not, the entries were not made correctly, you need to review your DNS.

Add a redirect rule:

Go to the IONOS customer area, specifically in the section "Domains & SSL", then select your domain, which in our example is "sio-demo.com". Then click on the button "Change the type of use".

On the next page, a list of options will appear, among which you will need to click on "Redirect domain".

Enter the destination URL to which you want to redirect in the "Redirection destination" field. (e.g. www.sio-demo.com or another domain).
Check the "Also configure for www subdomains" option if you want to include subdomains.
Select "HTTP Redirection (Recommended)": This option changes the URL displayed in the address bar.
Finally, click on "Save" to validate the redirection.

Note 2 : it sometimes takes 24 to 48 hours for DNS records to fully propagate.

Note 3 : it sometimes happens that your host cannot register your CNAME due to a conflict with other DNS. This usually occurs when adding the first CNAME.

At that point, you need to contact your host to understand the importance of these DNS and to give you the green light for their removal.
