How to send a test email
On this page, you will learn how to send a test email.
You will need:
- a systeme.io account
- a test email address
- an email
Why send a test email?
Sending a test email allows you to preview what the email will look like when received by recipients. A test can be sent for any email created under "Newsletters" or "Campaigns".
Preferred email addresses
By default, test emails will be sent to the "preferred email address" you have configured in the email settings. To configure this email address, click on your "Profile picture", then on "Settings" (number 1 in the image), and select "Emails" (number 2 in the image).
Finally, change your "Test email address" (number 3 in the image).
Note: To receive emails to your test email address, you must first confirm this email address. To learn more, click here.
Sending a test email for a newsletter
First, go to the newsletter you want to send a test for (to learn how to create a newsletter, click here).
Open the newsletter and click on "Save and test" (number 4 in the image).
Send a test email from a campaign
Go to the email address of the campaign for which you want to receive a test email. To learn how to create a campaign, click here.
In your campaign email, click on "Save and test" (number 5 in the image).
Important
- Currently, it's not possible to send a test email to an email that is configured on an automation rule or workflow.
- To avoid deliverability problems, we recommend that you use a test email address different from the one used to send your emails.
- Substitute variables will not be replaced when you send a test email. Therefore, if substitute variables were used, we recommend that you send a real email if you want to preview the result.
