How to set up a test email address to check your emails
In this article, you will learn how to send a test email to preview your content.
What you will need:
- A systeme.io account
- A verified test email address
Overview:
When creating newsletters or email campaigns in systeme.io, you can send a test email to preview your content.
This email will be sent to the test email address configured in your account's email settings. You can set up an unlimited number of test email addresses.
To set up a test email address, click on your profile picture, go to Settings (1), and select Emails (2).

You must confirm the test email address you intend to use.
Scroll down to Verified email addresses (3), then click Click here to confirm your email address and add the email address (4).
You can use any email provider you like (e.g., Yahoo, Gmail) without restriction.

Check the inbox of the email address you just added. You will receive an email containing a confirmation link (5).
This step ensures that you own the email address or have permission to use it. This helps prevent spam.

Finally, modify the Email address field in the Test section (6).

To prevent spam, you are limited to adding five new test email addresses per week.
Once you reach this limit, you can still send test emails to existing addresses, but you cannot add new ones temporarily.
How to send a test email for a newsletter:

How to send a test email for a campaign:

Once you are on your campaign email, click on Save and test (8).

Another method:
You can also change the test email address directly from the editor of your newsletter or your campaign email.
Once in the editor of your email, click the Save and test button (9).

A pop-up will appear allowing you to change the recipient email address (10).

You can enter a confirmed email address or add a new one and confirm it directly from here (11).

Important:
- You cannot send a test email to an address that is currently used in an automation rule or workflow.
- We recommend using a different email address for testing than the one you use to send emails. This helps avoid deliverability issues.
- Substitution variables are not active in test emails. To see exactly how these variables render, you should send a real email to yourself.
