How to automatically send an email with a file after a sale

In this article, you will learn how to send an email containing a file to your customer after they make a purchase.

What you will need:

  • systeme.io account
  • A sales funnel with a payment page
  • The file you want to send

1. Create an automation rule:

Navigate to your sales funnel's Payment page (1), click the Automation Rules tab (2), and click Add rule (3).

Click the (+) icon to add a trigger (4).

In the Add trigger popup that appears, choose the New sale trigger (5).

Then, click the (+) icon to display the list of available actions (6).

Click here to see how the automation rules work.

In the Add action popup, select the Send email action (7).

Note: Optionally, add the Add a tag action to categorize your contacts. Click here to learn how to create a tag.

2. Create an email and attach your file:

After adding the actions, click the (+) icon to create the email, then click the pencil icon to edit an existing one (8).

In the Create email message popup, add the subject, the content of your email, and your file.

Click the cloud icon to browse your files, or drag and drop your file directly (9).

Notes:

  • To improve email deliverability, we restrict the size of file attachments to 5MB. If your file is larger than 5MB, you will need to compress it before adding it.
  • Attachments are displayed as links at the end of the email rather than being sent as direct files. This method aligns with deliverability recommendations from all major Internet Service Providers (ISPs).

After the email is complete and the file is attached, scroll down and click Save (10).

After saving the email, save the rule by clicking Save rule (11).

3. Testing the email automation

We recommend making a test purchase through your payment page to confirm that everything is working properly.
