How to send an automatic email containing a file after the sale

In this article, we will see how to send an email containing a file to your customer after making a sale.

What you will need:
  • a account
  • a sales funnel with a payment page
  • your file
1. Create an automation rule:
First, go to the "Payment page" of your sales funnel (number 1 in the image), then select the "Automation rules" section (number 2 in the image) and click on "Add rule" (number 3 in the image).
Once the popup is displayed, you must choose the "New sale" trigger to allow the email with the file to be sent.
By clicking on the trigger indicated above, elements will appear to allow you to add the email you wish to send after a customer has registered.
(These elements are composed of "Add action" to the trigger, "Save rule" and a "Back" button to the main page of the automation rules)   
To add an action and especially the action of sending an email, you must click on the "Add action" button (number 4 in the image).

When you click on add action, a popup will appear to give you a list of all available actions. You must choose the "Send email" action (number 5 in the image).
Note: You can add the "Add a tag" action to classify your contacts. Click here to see how to create a tag.
2. Attach your file to your email:
Once the actions are added, you can create your email by clicking on the "+" icon and modify the email afterward by clicking on the pencil icon.

A popup will appear to add the subject, the content of your email and the file in question. 

To add the file, you must click on the "+ Add an attachment" button (number 7 in the image) and then on "Choose file" (number 8 in the image).
Note: We have recently implemented a file size limit to be attached to an email in order to improve the deliverability of your emails. The limit of a file to be attached to an email is 5 Mb, if your file is bigger, you will have to compress it before adding it.
Once the email is completed and the file is added, don't forget to scroll down to the end (after the substitute variables) to "Save" (number 9 in the image).
When you have finished the email, you must save the rule by clicking on "Save rule" (number 10 in the image).
