What is a light course

A light course is a simplified course format built directly inside your creator store. Unlike the classic course builder, it is designed for speed and ease of use, allowing you to create and sell courses directly from your phone.

The difference between classic courses and light courses

Systeme.io offers two course formats: Classic and Light. Each is designed for a specific style of teaching and building.

Classic courses:

• Location: Created and managed in Assets > Courses.
• Editor: Uses the classic course builder (desktop only).
• Best for: Users who need full control over structure, design, and customization.
• Verdict: Choose this if you want a fully custom layout with advanced design elements.

Light courses:

• Location: Created directly inside your creator store.
• Editor: Mobile-friendly interface (no drag-and-drop builder required).
• Best for: Creating and publishing courses quickly, even from your phone.
• Verdict: Choose this if you want a simple, clean layout that is fast to build and easy for students to consume.

Creating a light course

Go to the Sites tab and click Creator stores (1).

Select the store you want to use (2).

Click Add new product (3).

Select Sell a course (4).

Note: Light courses can only be created using the 'Sell a course' option.

In the Thumbnail tab, customize your header image, title, button text, and subtitle.

Click Next (5).

On the Course tab and select Light course (6).

Select an existing course (7) or click Create a new light course (8).

Enter a Title (9) and Description (10).

Scroll down to the Add modules section and click the Add module button (11).

In the popup, name your module and click Save (12).

Click Add lecture (13) to add content to the module.

Add a title and body text for your lecture.

You can also upload a video (14) or file attachment (15).

You can also configure the following optional settings at the bottom of the editor:

• Comments (16): Toggle the Enable comments switch to allow students to interact, ask questions, and leave feedback directly on the lecture.
• Delay (Drip access) (17): If you want to release your content gradually, enter a number of days in the Delay field.

Click Save (18) to apply the changes.

Once saved, a "Drip" label will automatically appear next to the lecture on your course page to clearly indicate its release schedule.

Note: The date and time displayed throughout your course automatically follow the format and timezone configured in your main account settings.

Your first lecture is ready!

To edit a module or lecture, click the three dots (19) menu next to it.

Selling your light course

Selling via the creator store:

Click Next to open the Checkout page settings. Here, you must set the Image (1), Title (2), Button text (3), and Description (4)

Under Collect info, choose which customer data fields to request (5). Click Add fields to add more if needed.

Click Add fields to request more information. Use the Trash icon to delete fields or the Required switch to make them mandatory.

In the price plans section, click the Plus (+) button (6) to choose an existing price plan, or create a new one.

Note: The "Email" and "First name" fields are mandatory and cannot be removed.

Click Set payment methods (7) to configure the currency and payment gateways

On the Thank you page tab, add a Title and Subtitle to display after a purchase.

Finally, use the Options tab to customize the instructor profile, branding (logo and cover), and certificate settings.

You can also add a custom code.

Click Publish (8) to publish your product.

Here is how it will look to your customers:

Selling via sales funnels:

You can also sell light courses in funnels using order forms, upsells, and downsells.

On your order form step, select Digital product (1) and click the plus (+) button (2).

Name the product (3), then click the plus (+) button (4) under Resources.

Select Courses (5). Choose your light course from the dropdown (6) and select the access type (7).

Notes:

• Only active light courses appear in the dropdown menu.
• The access types currently available are full access and partial access.

After adding a resource to your order form, create a price for your offer.

Click the plus (+) button (8). Select an existing price plan (9) or click Create a new one (10).

Click Save (11) to apply the changes.
